iPF8300 OVERVIEW

Built for ultra high quality imaging and exceptional performance, the imagePROGRAF iPF8300 44-inch large format printer is equipped with an array of professional features. The re-formulated 12-color LUCIA pigment ink system increases the achievable color gamut by approximately 20% from the previous imagePROGRAF 12-color series, enabling over 90% coverage of PANTONE colors. The iPF8300 has a large 80GB hard drive, sub-ink tank system, Gigabit Ethernet support and Accounting Manager feature make this a premier solution for the fine art, photography and proofing markets.

To fully utilize on the dynamic color range of the LUCIA EX ink set on the iPF8300, a high-precision printing mode delivers quality a step above the previously available highest quality mode. And with the Print Plug-in for Photoshop, now with support for Adobe CMM, users can process images in 16-bit. For more control over the final output, the Media Configuration Tool expands on the array of media options, allowing users to input profiles for third party media. LUCIA EX Ink Set

This re-formulated 12-color LUCIA pigment ink system increases the achievable color gamut by approximately 20% from previous imagePROGRAF 12-color series. This larger color gamut covers over 90% of PANTONE colors, remarkably expanding the capabilities of the printer. With LUCIA EX, expect exquisite photographic output, more expressive black tones, smooth color gradations, and the capability to reproduce fine details, even in the shadow areas of photographs. The LUCIA EX ink set improves scratch resistance while reducing bronzing and metamerism, for consistent ultra high quality output.

Print Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop

This export module allows 16-bit image processing, preserving the expanded color spectrum and high gradation of the original file. The Print Plug-in reduces the possibility of incorrect settings, by providing an integrated interface for print settings in Photoshop and the printer driver, enabling efficient production. In addition, the plug-in supports an Adobe Color Conversion Module (CMM), proof printing is now possible by simulating the colors produced by printing presses.

Print Plug-in for Digital Photo Professional - iPF8300

Media Configuration Tool

Recognizing the expanding array of media options for large format printers and to further improve the versatility of these new imagePROGRAF models, Canon has developed a new Media Configuration Tool, which not only allows customers to utilize Canon-branded media, but provides the ability to make adjustments to printer settings to enhance the precision and quality of output achieved with third party media.

Settings that can be configured using media parameter adjustment features include:

Automatic cutting settings for rolls

80GB Hard Drive

A built-in 80GB hard drive within the printer increases productivity by relieving workload from the host PC, while providing a large capacity for print job data storage and retrieval. This 80GB hard drive enables job data to be stored in protected mailboxes for easy access via web browser or at the printer for job re-printing. The embedded hard disk is ideal for medium to large workgroups to share a printer efficiently with multiple users, offering sample job storage space. To ensure security of your files, there are is a quick erase mode, high-speed mode, and a secure erase mode which meets to U.S. Department of Defense requirements (DoD5220-22M) for erasure of disk media.

High-Precision Print Modes

Two print output options have been added to the Printer Driver to give users in proofing and photography environments the ability to create exquisite prints with exceptional detail. These print modes were designed to deliver a level of quality a step above the previously available print modes, giving users more choices when creating prints.

The high-precision printing mode for photographs delivers output with less graininess, enhanced glossiness, sharper blacks and deeper darker tones.

The high-precision printing mode for text and fine lines reduces excessive thickness in text and files lines while reducing the misrepresentation of colors produced.

Accounting Manager

The iPF8300 Accounting Manager serves as a powerful feature, used for accurate management of printing costs and other information that is increasingly important in today's economic environment. With Accounting Manager feature you can track how much ink and paper is being consumed when printing large format output. Costs can be assigned to the ink and paper to determine expenses based on your own "Cost of goods". Each individual ink tank can have its own cost associated to it, as well as a variety of different paper types. The user can also input a variable cost that will be added to the total of the print cost. The data is exportable to a .csv format for Microsoft Excel so the data can be used for billing purposes. This feature will allow you to determine the cost of each print based on your actual cost.

Print Plug-in for Microsoft Office

This iPF8300 utility makes it easy to print large format documents created in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. The plug-in appears in a tool bar inside the Microsoft application and has an easy-to-follow "Wizard". The plug-in will bypass the printer driver to simplify the printing process. A few simple steps convert your 8.5" x 11" office document to poster size.

Built-in Calibration

The iPF8300 printer is equipped with the ability to easily reset back to the original optimal factory settings and apply any necessary adjustments across all the printer's media types in just minutes. At the same times this creates a stable, predictable printing platform on which superior results can be consistently achieved. The system has built-in calibration sensors that help compensate for adverse environmental conditions while providing a predictable platform for color management and consistent color reproduction.

Redesigned Control Panel

With an intuitive design, the control panel on the imagePROGRAF printer helps make printing easier than ever. The large, bright, and easy-to-read LCD screen has four graphic tabs for paper settings, ink levels, job information and adjustments. The tabs can be viewed "at a glance" with more detailed information just a touch of a button away. The panel is equipped with a navigation function that illustrates printer instructions. Users can follow easy illustrated steps to load paper, replace ink tanks, and other operations. This control panel also includes one-touch functions, such as Feed and Cut buttons, making the imagePROGRAF printer easy to use right out of the box.

PosterArtist Lite

Canon's included PosterArtist Lite poster creation software gives users the ability to quickly and easily create professional large format prints. Users simply follow the program's four (4) easy steps to create posters that can be used in applications such as office presentation, trade shows, retail signage, and much, much more. The PosterArtist QuickCopy feature provides an easy solution for a CanoScan desktop scanner to be used as a copier, making letter-size flyers and documents into full-size posters with a touch of a button.

For those with more demanding poster creation needs, Canon's optional PosterArtist offers advanced features such as Auto Design, Variable Data, and in-application image editing features, as well as additional templates, royalty-free photos, and clip art. The built-in weblink featured in PosterArtist Lite links users directly to the PosterArtist website for useful hints and tips, and even more free contents for download.

CANON imagePROGRAF LARGE FORMAT PRINTER LIMITED WARRANTY

The limited warranty set forth below is given by Canon U.S.A., Inc. and Canon Canada, Inc. (collectively "Canon") with respect to the Canon imagePROGRAF Large Format Printer packaged with this limited warranty and Canon branded accessories and options designed for use with the imagePROGRAF Large Format Printer (collectively, the "Product"). Canon warrants the Product to be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal use and service for a period of one (1) year after delivery to the original purchaser ("Purchaser") by Canon or its authorized dealer. During the relevant warranty period, Canon shall, in its sole discretion and without charge, repair or replace any defective part with a new or comparable rebuilt part or replace the Product with a new or rebuilt Product. Warranty replacement shall not extend the warranty period of the defective Product. This warranty shall not extend to the Canon Printhead for the Product, for which a separate warranty is given. Nor shall this warranty cover other consumable parts or consumables, such as paper and ink cartridges, as to which there shall be no warranty or replacement.

You must cooperate with Canon in remotely diagnosing the Products malfunction. Canon may attempt to correct the malfunction remotely, with your assistance. If Canon cannot fix your Product's malfunction through remote diagnostics, Canon shall schedule an on-site service call by an independent authorized Canon Service Provider (the "Service Provider") or Canon will send you a replacement part for any defective user replaceable item. You will be charged at the then-current service call rates of Canon or the Service Provider if the defects in the Product are not covered by this limited warranty, or if the applicable warranty period for the Product has expired or warranty coverage has not been sufficiently established by appropriate documentation.

This warranty shall only apply if this Product is used in conjunction with compatible computers, peripheral equipment and software, as to which items Canon shall have no responsibility. CANON imagePROGRAF PRINTHEAD LIMITED WARRANTY

Canon U.S.A., Inc. and Canon Canada, Inc. (collectively "Canon") warrant the imagePROGRAF Printhead packaged with this Limited Warranty (the "Printhead") to be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal use and service, for a period of one-year after delivery to the original purchaser of the Printhead, or for the period that the "Head Lot Number" of the Printhead, as displayed in the "Status Display" of the Status Monitor utility accompanying the Product in which the Printhead is incorporated, has a last character of "a"(1), whichever period expires first. During the relevant warranty period, Canon shall, in its sole discretion and without charge, repair or replace any defective Printhead with a new or comparable rebuilt Printhead. Warranty replacement shall not extend the warranty period of the defective Printhead.

If the Printhead malfunction is not covered by this Limited Warranty or the applicable warranty period has expired or has not been sufficiently established by appropriate documentation, you will be required to replace the Printhead at your expense.

THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS REGARDING MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, RELATING TO THE USE OR PERFORMANCE OF THE PRINTHEAD. This warranty shall be void and of no force and effect if the Printhead is damaged as a result of (a) abuse, neglect, mishandling, improper cleaning, unauthorized repairs or alteration of the Printhead, or a Product in which the Printhead is incorporated, electric current fluctuation, or accident, (b) improper use, including failure to follow operating or maintenance instructions in, or environmental conditions prescribed in, Canon's operator's manual or other documentation, (c) installation or repair by other than service representatives qualified by Canon who are acting in accordance with Canon's service bulletins, or (d) use of supplies or parts (other than those distributed by Canon) which damage the Printhead or cause abnormally frequent service calls or service problems. Nor does this warranty extend to any Printhead on which the original identification marks or serial numbers have been defaced, removed, or altered.

Just got my printer and first, let me say WOW. This is the largest printer I've ever seen!

It showed up in a box about the size of a refrigerator on it's side. Getting it out of the box and on to the stand took 4+ large guys and be aware that getting it through small doorways would be impossible. Also, expect to dispose of about 100lbs of cardboard and packing supplies.

Now on to the printer. Setup was very straightforward. Keep in mind that it doesn't come with a USB cable and Staples charges an arm and a leg for one (ask me how I know). I would also make sure to purchase some extra paper when you get it, because the starter roll it comes with is only about 15ft and gets eaten up with all the alignment tests it runs the first time you turn it on. My first prints were amazing; speed, color and accuracy seem to be great. I'll add an update once I've printed a little more.
